Serving utility
Imperial Irrigation District
Mecca is served by the Imperial Irrigation District (IID), a public power utility that sets its own rates, interconnection requirements, and distributed-generation billing rules outside the CPUC's SCE Solar Billing Plan. The design therefore starts with the current IID tariff and the property's interval usage—not assumptions imported from an SCE proposal.
Mecca works in some of the hottest sustained conditions in California, on rural IID feeders that serve homes, farm operations, and small commercial sites together. An outage here interrupts both a household and, often, a livelihood — refrigeration, pumps, and shop equipment — so equipment siting is engineered for the heat: shade, ventilation, and dust protection are design requirements, not preferences.
