Not necessarily, and the two words sounding identical is what trips people up. "Microgrid," spelled with an i, is a general engineering term for any small, self-contained power system, and plenty of companies use it. "Mycrogrid®," spelled with a y, is our name. It describes how we specifically design, install, and monitor these systems here in the Coachella Valley, with our own team of battery and solar engineers behind every one. So the real question isn't which word a company uses. It's who designs the system, who stands behind it, and who you call when it needs attention.

Yes. Solar is installed as part of your Mycrogrid®, designed from the start together with battery storage, the transfer equipment that carries you through an outage, the controls that decide when your home uses what, and Mycroguard™ watching all of it around the clock. We start with your property, not with a box of equipment: how much energy you use, what has to stay on when the power drops, where everything gets mounted, and what your home may need five years from now. If you already have solar, we build the rest of the system around it. If you don't, we design and install the solar along with everything else. One system, one plan, one team standing behind it.

Mycroguard™ is the intelligence behind every Mycrogrid®. It continuously monitors your system, provides remote diagnostics, helps coordinate service when needed, and gives you complete visibility into your home's energy — all through one integrated platform which you can view on the Mycrogrid® app.

For years, rooftop solar was designed around exporting electricity to the utility in exchange for favorable credits that benefitted the homeowner who invested in solar-only. As those programs changed, the better economics shifted toward producing, storing, and using more of your own energy in your home. That's the model Mycrogrid® advanced. This is what Mycrogrid® was built for.

No utility permission is required. Unlike conventional grid-tied solar, a Mycrogrid® is designed not to export power to the utility grid. That means there is no utility interconnection application and no waiting for utility approval or permission to operate. We obtain only the required local municipal or county permits, complete the inspections, and commission your Mycrogrid®.

Because a Mycrogrid® is designed to operate independently of the utility grid. It is YOUR grid. Unlike conventional grid-tied solar systems that export electricity and require utility interconnection approval, a Mycrogrid® does not export power to the utility. That means there is no utility permission-to-operate process. We obtain only the required local municipal or county building and electrical permits before commissioning your system.

When the utility loses power, your Mycrogrid® automatically powers the load circuits designed to remain operational. Because every home is different, your backup strategy is custom engineered during the design process.

A generator and a Mycrogrid® solve two different problems. A generator is great in a real emergency, but it needs fuel, it has to be started, and it's loud. It isn't something you run all day, every day. A Mycrogrid® is silent and automatic, and it isn't only there for emergencies: it works for you every day, lowering what you pay based on when you use your power. Many of our customers keep both, for different reasons.

Most home batteries are about the size of a large suitcase or a water heater, and they typically mount on a garage wall or along a side yard, not in your living space. There's no engine, no combustion, and nothing spinning, so a battery simply does its job quietly. Most homeowners forget it's there until they need it.

Most quality battery systems carry a 10- or 15-year manufacturer's warranty, and a well-built system often keeps performing well beyond that. Like any battery, whether in your phone or your car, it loses a little capacity over time, but that's a slow curve measured in years, not something you'll notice month to month. And because Mycroguard™ watches your system the whole time, if performance ever starts to drift, we know about it before you do.

It's a fair question, and one people should ask. The battery technology in quality residential systems today is built specifically for home use. It's tested and certified to strict national safety standards, with multiple layers of protection built in, and it isn't the same as the battery in a laptop or an e-bike. Like any electrical equipment in your home, it has to be installed correctly by people who know what they're doing, which is exactly why this isn't a do-it-yourself product.

It's a smart question, because heat is hard on batteries in general. Quality residential systems are engineered with built-in thermal management, so they regulate their own temperature instead of baking in a hot garage. Where and how a system is installed matters too, which is why every Mycrogrid® design accounts for exactly where you live, not just which equipment we use.

In most cases, yes. We design every Mycrogrid® with room to grow, because your needs today aren't necessarily your needs in five years. Maybe you add a pool, an EV, or a home office. It's smarter, and usually less expensive, to plan for that growth up front than to bolt something on later, so we talk it through during your design consultation: not just where your home is now, but where it's headed.

There's no single number, and anyone who quotes a flat price without seeing your home is guessing. Every system is different: how much energy you use, how many hours of backup you want, and whether you're starting from scratch or already have solar all change the number. Your consultation is free, and you'll leave it with a real number for your home, not a ballpark for someone else's.

Every homeowner's financial situation is different. Some choose cash, others use financing, and qualified homeowners often use a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) to invest in a Mycrogrid®. During your consultation, we'll help you compare the available options and design a solution that fits both your home and your financial goals.

In most cases you'll still go through your HOA, and that's normal. It doesn't mean there's a problem. California law protects a homeowner's right to install solar, so an HOA can't outright deny it, though it can set reasonable rules about placement or appearance. A battery tucked against the side of the house or in the garage usually isn't an issue. We'll help you confirm exactly what your HOA requires before any work begins.

Generally, no. Adding a battery system doesn't typically raise red flags with insurance carriers, and in some cases backup power and a monitored system can work in your favor. We still recommend a quick call to your insurance company to let them know about the upgrade, the same as you would for any major addition to your home. It takes five minutes and means no surprises later.

A Mycrogrid® stays with the house, so whoever buys your home inherits the system, the backup power, and the Mycroguard™ monitoring that comes with it. That's a real selling point. A home with reliable backup power and a lower, more predictable energy cost is more attractive to buyers than one without, especially out here, where people take power seriously.

It may make even more sense than for a full-time resident. While you're away for months at a time, Mycroguard™ watches your home the entire time, so if something is ever wrong, we know before you get the call nobody wants to get. And while you're not there running the AC all day, your system keeps quietly doing its job in the background, keeping your home protected either way.

For most homes, the physical installation takes days, not weeks. Your panels and battery go in on a tight, coordinated schedule. What takes longer is everything around it: the local permits and inspections. Once your crew arrives, we're not camped out at your house for a month, and we'll give you a real schedule for your home before we start.

When you upgrade to a battery-integrated Mycrogrid®, your new installation includes a new one-year fit-and-finish warranty, and every qualifying upgrade includes 15 years of Mycroguard™ monitoring at no additional cost. The name and technology have evolved, and your home's protection has been reset for the next generation of residential energy.

Not necessarily. While an installer's workmanship warranty (fit and finish) may no longer be available if the company has ceased operations, many manufacturer warranties remain in effect covering the equipment that exists in and on your home. During your consultation, we'll evaluate your existing equipment, determine what warranty coverage is still available, and recommend the best path forward. In many cases, we can integrate your existing system into a new Mycrogrid® and provide ongoing monitoring through Mycroguard™.
