App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mycrogrid, Incorporated (“Mycrogrid,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information through the Mycrogrid mobile application and the customer portal at portal.mycrogrid.com (together, the “App”). It applies to all customers who use the App, regardless of location.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide the App:

Account and identity information. Your name and email address, used to sign you in and identify your account.

Installation address. The address and map location of the property where your energy system is installed, used to identify which system belongs to you and to show local weather and weather alerts for that property.

Energy and equipment data. Production, consumption, battery state, grid import and export, and equipment health data for your system, including the battery’s state of health and charge-cycle history over time. This is the core function of the App. Most of this data is drawn from the systems of the equipment manufacturers whose hardware is installed at your property (for example, your battery or inverter manufacturer).

Utility and rate plan. The utility that serves your property and the rate plans you buy and sell electricity on, recorded by Mycrogrid staff from your utility bill. We use it to price your energy use and estimate your savings.

Manufacturer system identifiers and equipment serial numbers. Identifiers that link your Mycrogrid installation to the manufacturer account that reports its data, and the serial number of each piece of equipment installed at your property. This includes the monitoring gateway that connects your system to its manufacturer, such as a FranklinWH aGate, Tesla Backup Gateway, Enphase IQ Gateway, or SunPower PVS6. We use these to retrieve your system’s information, match data and alerts to the right equipment, and support warranty and service.

Documents. Agreements, plans, warranties, and invoices associated with your system.

Push notifications and device information. If you enable at least one notification category, the App reads your notification permission status and processes a device push token, device platform, app version, notification preferences, and delivery-status information. We use this information to send the categories you select: system alerts and recovery notices, project updates, document availability notices, and support updates. We do not use push notifications for marketing in this version of the App. You may change notification categories in the App and control notification permission in your device settings.

Support and privacy requests. When you contact support or submit an account-deletion or privacy request, we collect the information you provide. This may include your name, account email, installation address, equipment serial number, request details, and information needed to verify your identity.

Customer portal. When you use the App in a web browser, it keeps your sign-in session and display preferences in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in. The portal does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Like any website, the service that hosts the portal receives your IP address and browser information when it delivers the portal to you.

Diagnostics. The App does not currently use a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Apple and Google may provide Mycrogrid with platform-level diagnostic information in accordance with their policies and your device settings. If we add another diagnostics provider, we will update this policy and the applicable store disclosures before enabling it.

How we use your information

We use this information to operate the App, show you your system’s performance, provide support and service, maintain your documents and system records, deliver notifications you have enabled, process privacy requests, protect the App, and improve its reliability.

We also review your system’s data to look after it: we compare its daily production with its own recent days and with other Mycrogrid systems in the area to spot equipment that is underperforming, and we look at how much of your battery and solar you use to see whether your home has outgrown its system. If it may benefit from service or more equipment, we may contact you about it.

Mycrogrid staff can see your information only as their role requires to support and service your system. We do not sell your personal information.

How we share your information

We disclose information only as needed to operate the App and provide services:

• With equipment manufacturers, we exchange the manufacturer system identifiers and equipment serial numbers needed to retrieve your system’s data from their platform and to coordinate warranty and service.
• With providers that host or support the App, authenticate customers, store App records, deliver email, or help us respond to support and privacy requests.
• If you enable push notifications, with Expo Push Service, Apple Push Notification Service, and Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver them.

These providers process information to perform services for Mycrogrid. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To show local weather and weather alerts, the App or our servers send the map coordinates of your installation to the National Weather Service (weather.gov), a U.S. government service. Your name and contact information are not sent.

If you book a consultation from the App, it opens our scheduling page, operated by Microsoft Bookings, in your browser. Information you enter there is covered by our website privacy policy.

Data retention and account deletion

You can request deletion of your account at any time, both from within the App (in account settings) and through our web deletion request page at mycrogrid.com/app/delete-account. You do not need to call, email, or file a support ticket to delete your account.

Your name, email address, and installation address are linked in our records to the serial number of your monitoring gateway. When you request deletion, we ask for that serial number, which is printed on the gateway’s label, and use it to locate your records. We then confirm the request with you at the email address on your account before completing it.

When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your name, email address, installation address, account access, and other information used to identify you personally. We also delete registered push tokens, notification preferences, and associated notification-delivery records. You will no longer be able to sign in. We retain the equipment serial numbers and the energy, equipment, warranty, service, and system history associated with them so Mycrogrid can maintain accurate warranty, service, legal, and operational records for the equipment. These records are no longer linked to your name or contact information after deletion. Documents may also be retained where required by law or reasonably necessary for those purposes.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including the duration of the customer relationship, the service life and warranty history of the installed system, legal and accounting requirements, security, and resolving disputes. Deletion requests and verification records may be retained long enough to process the request, document its completion, and meet legal or security requirements.

We will confirm your deletion request and tell you the timeframe in which it will be completed.

Your choices and rights

You may access and update your account information in the App, and you may request account deletion as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law; contact us at [email protected] to exercise them.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you certain rights regarding your personal information. This section describes those rights and how to exercise them.

Categories of personal information we collect. In the past twelve months, we have collected the following categories of personal information, as described in the “Information we collect” section above: identifiers (name, email address, installation address and its map location, manufacturer system identifiers, equipment serial numbers, and, when enabled, a device push token); customer records (documents such as agreements, warranties, and invoices, and the utility and rate plan for your property); internet or electronic activity (notification preferences, delivery information, and platform diagnostics when available); support and privacy-request information; energy and equipment data associated with your system; and inferences about your system’s performance and needs, such as whether it is underperforming or may benefit from more storage or solar. We collect this information from you, your device, the equipment manufacturers whose systems are installed at your property, and service providers that support the App.

Purposes. We use these categories to provide and operate the App, show you your system’s performance, provide support and service, maintain your records, deliver notifications you enable, process privacy requests, protect the App, and improve its reliability, as described in “How we use your information” above.

Categories disclosed. We disclose manufacturer system identifiers and equipment serial numbers to equipment manufacturers to retrieve your system’s data and to coordinate warranty and service. We disclose the map coordinates of your installation to the National Weather Service to retrieve local forecasts and weather alerts. We disclose the information needed to provide hosting, authentication, storage, email, support, privacy-request, and push-notification services to the providers described in “How we share your information” above. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.

Your California rights. Subject to applicable law and certain exceptions, you may have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; request deletion of your personal information; correct inaccurate personal information; limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information; and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so no sale or sharing opt-out is needed. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

How to exercise your rights. To make a request, contact us at [email protected] or use the account deletion options described in “Data retention and account deletion” above. We will confirm your request and respond within the timeframe required by law. To verify your identity, we match the serial number of your monitoring gateway to our records and confirm the request with you at the email address on your account.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children and is intended for use by Mycrogrid customers who are adults.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
